Linpal is working
|
There was a previous thread regarding the long dead linpal which would not compile under newer linux distros. I got this problem fixed with the help of some peeps over at the Ubuntu forum some months ago and promised to host a download of the fixed source.
Sorry, got kinda busy. The fixed source is now hosted however and if anyone out there does use linux you can download linpal at the following link.
http://darknet.bounceme.net/palace/l...2-fixed.tar.gz
If you haven't used linpal before let me warn you, this is an old version and there is now registration or prop bag. There are many things you cannot do with this software that you can do with the various Windows version. All of which run decently under WINE.
I am intending to do some work on linpal now that I have some time free as I fully support linux and hope to have at least a prop bag added before long. However, my schedule can get quite... unpredictable.
Thanks, and enjoy
Thank you also to Soybean, Compyx, and Zwak over at the Ubuntu forums.

Nice!
thanks for posting the info and link, just a small plug: there is a upload option in the files section. Anyone with Palace related files or links can post them there if they want. Enough space and bandwidth to host everything :)

Much thx as always maarten.
I have inquired on sourceforge.net about having this added to the currently runny linpal project. If I don't receive a response I intend to start a new project there. So it will also be hosted there. As well, I have also uploaded here.
:)
As you may be able to tell, I don't use forums a lot. :) not too familiar with them yet.

Well thank you, its great to know someone is still developing for Palace. Especially a proper Linux client could be good for the community. Good luck with getting it on sourceForge, perfect place for it.
As for being unfamiliar with the forum: I take the blamme for that. Without a proper "what to do and where to find it" explenation of the site it has always been a bit of a mess lol (so far real life has come between me and a proper cleanup / howto tutorial)
And to be honest I really thought you where an old pro at this forum thingy.
(putting "explain the site!!" on my todo list lol)

nah, I'm an old pro at palace but I've never participated in forums much till now. I usually just use them to look up information and that's it.
But, I love palace and anything to do with palace community.

Thanks for mentioning this staticextasy,
I hadn't thought of that when I took down that server. needed that hdd for my main box till mine got warrantied. Anyway, the linpal client is here on PalacePlanet as well... and just checking that now it tells me that it is not currently available... lol
So, I am putting it on my main hosted site
http://wilsteele.ca/files/linpal-0.5-working.tar
just to note, you will need these package to compile this...
libglade2-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libgtkmm-dev
I am hoping to get back to work on this soon, as my life seems to slow down a little during the summer and fall... till then, this is still a pretty buggy client by current standards.

Hey Wil, thanks for checking in and updating. Silly problem that Linpal you uploaded, it got locked up during the move and now nobody can touch it, read it, download it or even copy it. Probly need to chown it, will get to that later i'm afraid.

I'll try the PP link and hopefully that was fixed.
