*the fanfare begins to play* I have the answer to this question. I just figured it out today!!!! What anyone with problems with Vista needs to do is open the Palace Client in the "Run as Administrator" mode via the right click menu. That will allow the client to retain all changes to any files and folders that are associated to Palace.
