Like Nerdo posted on top you need to check what your external internet IP is with this site:

http://www.whatismyip.com/

The one the Palace server shows you is usually your internal network IP and starts with either 192. or 168. Because this is for local traffic only people will only acces their own Palace with this not someone elses on the internet.

It is a bit like telling someone your room number in a hotel without giving them the Hotel name or street adress.

And still a lot of people give out a IP that starts with 192.... or 168... a number that only works in their own house no where else.

The idea behind all that is this, simply. The internet is getting over crowded. People aren't just putting computers like Mac/PC on the net, there's a series of electronic devices that can now report in/out to the net. Soda can machines can be 'fingered', this is a plain text protocol, to report back how many sodas on a rack, the internal temperatur, and anything else you can think of beyond that. Everything on the net (TCP/IP) requires an address! So to kind of conserve as many WORLD WIDE IP Addresses as possible, businesses and homes have instead of the net (WAN - Wide Area Network), small networks are referred to as LANs (Local Area Network).

A 'LAN' has all the same rules as the internet itself only, it's like a private version of the internet aka intranet! With this you can assign as many IP Addresses within the LAN itself as you want. Now the machine that assigns these IP Addresses has what's called a DHCP server. And it will 'translate' incoming/outgoing requests between the true internet (WAN), and your private intranet (LAN).

What you see as a 192.... number - is your LAN IP Address. That is what other local network machines would see your machine as. You must instruct your router/DHCP server box to forward connections on the port Palace is on to your LAN IP. And then people on the net can access your box. For this I recommend you read the manual to your router box, or contact your LAN administrator.

You do as suggested in this post 3 times now, you visit

http://www.whatismyip.com/

And try entering your server with the IP given on that site.

If this does not work we go to step 2: see why it doesn't work for you Razz

hey i have the EXACT same problem.
ok. here are ALL the details, i hope some one can help me.
I'm using windows 98, broadband, (dsl) and i downloaded the FREE PSERVER.
EYE can connect to my palace by using this address 10.0.0.1 port ; 9998
and that works fine for me. i went to av pally, and having this problem before, i asked people to try and connect using 10.0.0.1 ; 9998 that didnt work, so i went to whatsmyip.com and it gave me my ip, that started eith 203.. so i asked the people to use that instead of the 10.0.0.1 one. it didn't work. the ip didn't work for me either. i have no idea whats wrong, can anuone help?
