I was wondering how I can change the default bg "clouds.gif". I've tried replacing the default background with my own background, renaming it "clouds.gif" in my palace media directory but the default background doesn't seem to change. I've also tried "clouds.jpg" but that doesn't work as well.

I've searched all the other topics for a similar problem with this but no luck.

If you replace the clouds.gif with your own
(actually i think it will try and load clouds.GIF this can be a different file on Linux server, windows is not case sensitive) only people who don't have the default clouds.gif will load the new one, your one.

If you want some system that gives your users the opportunity to create member rooms a good way to give them cooler looking room is to make a 'member room' ... roommaker.

This is a basic room with a couple of example pictures of the room pictures they can choose, make each example picture a door and put in this script:

Code:
ON SELECT
{
{"'newroom" SAY} 1 ALARMEXEC
{"'rpicture example1.jpg" SAY} 1 ALARMEXEC
}

Another option is to make a simple new room script like above and give them a default room picture that explains the commands and perhaps has a few roompic examples in it.

Hope you didn't fall asleep yet, its a bit of work but could be fun, people like to control their own rooms.

good luck.

 Description:
Exampole of a room builder, each picture is a door with the script in it. Its in dutch by the way :P

thank you for the info. i have another question regarding making a new room. whenever a member/operator/admin makes a new room right off of the palace program, it deletes automatically right when i shut down my server.

do i always have to manually create a new room in pserver.pat so it doesn't delete or is there a way where the new rooms does not automatically delete when i do the command 'newroom directly from palace, not the pserver.pat file.

The newroom command is for member rooms, these are temp. rooms that auto delete after the owner or last user has left your Palace. To create permanent rooms you have to be a wizard / owner and use the Room menu in your Palace client to create a new room.

hope this answers your question. This type of info is available in the Menu section by the way. You might want to take a peek there is a lot of cool info in there if your serious about building your Palace Smile

have fun.
