I can't connect to my own server,I just formated my computer and installed palace server again. And I never had any problems with my palace server but now I can't connect at all.But when I tried to turn off Norton internet security it worked but I don't want to turn it off.I don't know if the server is blocked or anything,I can connect to other servers thought..
This is what it says in my palace server log:
02/22/2005 14:43:36 - - Registering with directory...
02/22/2005 14:43:36 - - Can't locate yellow pages site directory.thepalace.com
02/22/2005 14:43:36 - - Directory Registration failed
Thanks, |

This sounds like a Firewall problem (norton firewall, part of your Norton internet security)
What you need to do is make sure your firewall is set to allow traffic to and from the Palace server. I'm afraid I don't know the Norton Firewall to well but usually these firewalls come with an option to allow certain software to make an internet Connection.
You can also open port 9998 and port 9994 on your firewall if you can find the settings for this.
Perhaps you can find info on this on the norton website / forum.
The easy way to connect to your own palace tojust use localhost as addy.
good luck. |

Thank you maarten,for your reply.
I tried to do that but somehow it didn't work, anyways I uninstalled Internet security and then installed it again. And it seems like I blocked the connection the first time(by mistake) so I allowed it this time. And it worked ^^ |

The above part of your msg can be fixed by adding your palace to the new directory at www.palacetools.com
The original directory with communities.com is obviously no longer there. the palace still looks for it tho.

If you have your firewall off and all that and its still not letting people onto your palace then this is your problem.
you are using a router to split more then one computer to the internet. That was my problem my parents had to by a hub and pay for two ip address (cause we got three computers) till people could get on my palace. |

Registering on PalaceTools.com isn't going to fix anything. All palace servers automatically report to an IP Address they own. If you want to localhost correct for a connection to a bad IP Address, I believe you could define the working IP Address under the 'hosts' file of Windows/Linux. It's pretty much like a local DNS lookup with instant speeds. |

One time i tried starting up the palace server while NOT connected to the internet, And thats what it said. I have dial-up and i was not connected and my palace server said that exsactly.. it wasn't a problem for me because i just connected and it was fine.. but i don't know what would cause the problem in your case.....
so yea this post probably didn't help at all.. sry |

The idea is that the server will hang while it's waiting to time out. This is usually the result of a single-threaded application. If you defined 'directory.thepalace.com' in your 'hosts' file as localhost, then it wouldn't have to timeout at all, simply that the port on your machine that it's looking for isn't even open! |
