An attempt to rewrite pserver as JPalaceServer
Hello Developers,
In contact with theturtle32 and pawn, I've got excited about rewriting the palaceserver in Java language.
I've got from pawn the mansionsrc organized and ready to build with "make" command, and its fully functional pserver that I will use to rebuild the whole protocol.
It will be a hardwork, and I will work slow since its a hobby work and I have other programs to do.
Java seems like to be great for palace server, and I belive it will do the job better than in C, due to JVM enhancements, like garbadge collector, cache, memory management and auto unnecessary loops passby (and many other things). Also it would be only one source for any platform, object oriented (making easier to understend the code, patch it and extend it).
I dont even know why I will do it, since I have working sources in C, but I will do it for educational purpouses and because I love The Palace.
This server will not be another "The Manor" or "iPalace", it will be done for working with PalaceClient32 (consequently to PalaceChat too).
I'm just in the beginning studying the great avaliable sources.
I hope that when I get something like a connection established, some others developers come to help to boost the development.
The whole project will be Free(dom) (and opensource under GPL) following the CopyLeft licenses.
I'm thinking in hosting it in sourceforge.net.
I want to know your comments and suggestions.
