RE: dsl issues - please help!
It sounds like the XP firewall is turned on, this will stop any unknown program (unknown to the firewall) from connecting to the internet. Did you install service pack 2?

You can check if th firewall is active by opening network connections and check the icon for your network. If there is a tiny little lock in the icon your firewall is active. You can also right click your network connection and look"prperties" then advanced there is a check box to turn your firewall on and off.

To see if this is the problem you can turn it of for a few minutes and see if you can get on Palace again.

XP firewall is usually on by default. Did you disable it previously? You might check again to make sure it isn't selected. Let us know if you are still having problems. Go to the wwwpalacetools, com live directory and try entering palaces from there. Some hosts were having problems due to a router being down and whole grids were affected. This made it impossible for a lot of ppl to access many palaces. Let us know how your doing...

It sounds like your DSL modem has a firewall inside that is blocking certain port connections. Did you get any instructions with your modem? Usually you can connect to some sort of control panel on these things with a IP number, for example: 192.168.0.1

But this depends on what type you are using.

You can also check the following links perhap they have usefull info:
