The Palace environment has changed since Communities.com stopped supporting the palace community. The Palace Community now runs itself making the Palace the first Chat Community for the people by the people. In these FAQS we cover certain issues that may crop up for newbies and current users alike.

The registration code, fondly known as the 'reg code' unlocks the member capabilities of the client program. It is also a security feature of The Palace which allows moderation of the palace environment by Operators and Owners.

The Client reg code is essentially your unique ID on palace, apart from unlocking the member capabilities of your client program. Server Reg Codes are unique IDs for each particular palace - something that was more relevant when the Communities.com Palace Directory was running with each palace having it's own unique webpage. The Server Reg Codes were not free (except the basic 8 member reg code) and came in capacities of 25 member, 50 member and unlimited. This sets the maximum number of people who can visit your palace at any given time.

Communities.com, the company that was developing and supporting The Palace has gone bust. Long before that, it withdrew support for The Palace Chat programs (client and servers). This means that there are no new registration codes available. However, there are current palace users that had the forsight to obtain reg codes before the CC site shut down. You can find a stack of official codes here: registration It will be possible to retreive lost codes in the future, so please don't take more then you need.

Don't pay for any Client regcodes or 8 member server Reg Codes as registration was free. A word of caution: Do not use any illegal client reg code generators as this ends up in duplicate reg codes.

Reg codes are indevidual codes. Sharing them can have strange effects. You can never be in the same Palace as the person with your reg-code and if that person gets kicked or banned, you will be kicked or banned as well. The server will think your the same person.

When a palace uses a Guest=member reg codes, guests (i.e.:people without client reg codes) are allowed to function as members in the palace that uses them. Most servers use this type of code. If you need one: it can be found in the files section in the Palace server description.
