How can i mark a Wizard/God?
Like the name between a ~ for a Wizard/God
Rentahero did it with his RentaDabo to, how can i do the same?

Example Names (WIZARD/GOD)
~Feivel~

Some people think its important you see who is a god or a wizard and use *** or even ****. Personally i think thats a bit to much attention grabbing and prefer no symbols :)

You want to insert the ~ into your name? You mean you can't right now? If not your server might name the special character plugin. Only available for Linux Servers.

Yes but then everbody can use an Moderator name, by serting in *
I need a script if somebody does ~susr password and it's correct, he will be granted with a * or a ~
So i can make it clear for my visitores it's a REAL Moderator.

People can use the * in their name without being a wizard??? That should not be possible.

Not sure if its possible to script wizard / god permissions, that would mean a lot of scripts allover the place if it can be done.

If you are worried about people knowing if they really are a god or a wiz why don't you put in a room pic with the names of your gods and wizzards, simply stating that if someone needs any help they may contact one of the people listed here. Could even add it as a side list on your landing or an enterance room before your main area.

As far as the scripting, I don't know if what you are wanting it possiable I will play around with that. However, even if it is all it would do is auto put the * or ~ in the name, it won't stop anyone else from adding it.

Chatters who are in a special moderator/wizard group in my portal system (xoops) just get a ~ around the name.. that's all. This doesn't mean that they are automatically wizard.. they still have to enter the wiz password. This ofcourse will only work if you can enter the chat with InstantPalace only because with the client everybody can put a ~ around the name ;-)

yeah thats so weird, he doesn't want to give away for free what he paid for himself. Actually Renta was the firs to give us a working instant Palace for everybody to use. so if you got Instant Palace you should thank him for fixing it :P

I think you don't really know what you are talking about. First of all I can't remember asking anyone for money for our site and second: for me our palace is just a hobby.. nothing else.

I just don't want to give a way two years of hard work so someone can use my ideas, that's all. And as Maarten said, i shared the java instant palace on this site for the palace community.

I soon realised that if i helped you further, you would keep on bugging me. That's why i pointed you to this site for answers.. i started here as well. You are not a person one can easy get rid of and won't accept no for an answer and immediately wants help.

If you want to limit ~ to wizards or gods only, you could install the WordReplace plugin and add ~ to the namereplace.txt file and have it be replaced with a different character, like a * which should (in theory) generate an illegal name error message and drop the character from the name producing the intended result. You could also replace ~ with a . for non-wizards/gods. :)

They are running a Windows server so plugins won't work. Feivel is making it too complicated he should just use the * in the name.

Rentahero uses this ~ through a CMS and my guess is the users have to register and login using the CMS giving him control over the use of caracters in names. If you combine the secure login with a CMS you can do this, Palace Planet could have a instant Palace for registered users only.

But I think the only reason feivel wants to use the ~ is because he saw someone else use it :shade:
