Okay, I've been out and about discussing the event with some very good people and they had some interesting insights into the adult entries.
We all agreed that it would be terrible to have a palace with incredible room art be left out because of the type of palace that it is. As I have said before, if they want to join go for it.

It was suggested that instead of the palaces advertising what sort of adult palace it was simply going with a generic sort of 18 and over palace that way it's not drawing so much attention to the lifestyle that a much younger palace goer may be more curious about it. Downplaying it. With the ideas of hubs and docks and things that have been done in the past I believe this can be achieved. On enter gates requiring birthdays and so on shouldn't really run too much into the event. But perhaps the adult palace can have those on enter/birthday required gates to deter wandering youths. Kind of like the whole cattle chute idea....I know it's not a flattering image but if you approach it something like that to keep everyone on track. That way if someone should wish to wander those age appropriate can and those not well they will either do the math to get what they want or simply go on to the next place. Everyone can enjoy the artwork and those that are concerned with keeping it so that if there is a child touring or just peering over Mom or Dad's shoulder there are not any unseemly displays or awkward questions to be answered could be comforted by knowing that some sort of safeguard is in place to protect their youths.

Keep the ideas coming. If you don't want to post them yourselves discuss it with me or someone else and I'm sure we'll be happy to bring them in here to mention.

Personally I refuse to use the birthday checks on a enter gate. Wheather it be for a event or not...it is personal opinion but I think they are silly. More times then not I think they aggravate adults and make adults not enter because they are a waste of time then making kids not enter (it is a way for them to see if they can break a rule many times in my idea of looking at it) so if a event requires adult palaces to use them we have never been a part of it.

Just my two cents...

I definitely would like to steer away from the idea of having the birthday entry at the enter gate, it will slow things down, and could bottleneck the tours. It was a suggestion and as I've said all suggestions are welcome.

We definitely want everyone and I mean everyone to enjoy this event. If a person is worried tremendously about the content the youths they know are subjected to, it could damage the 'tourist count'.

I do not want a palace to have to shut down areas during the event because as others have said it frustrates their regular visitors and we want this to be fun for everyone and do not wish to make it miserable for those that normally hang out at a palace.

To clarify what I was saying in a previous post when I spoke of the on enters, I was not speaking of the entry gate for the tour or the palace. If a palace has a door that leads off the tour that they have set up, that door could have the script in it. I know that many people detest that birthday entry thing, I am not a huge fan of it myself, but we need some sort of idea to mollify the people that are concerned with 'adult' palaces being allowed to put their palace in the tour.

We know that all palaces fully intend on having tasteful and all age friendly artwork and scripting in the tour rooms. This is yet another reason why we need suggestions and ideas to get the groundwork built properly so that when all is said and done, we can say that we have done all that is possible to make it enjoyable for everyone of all ages.

Right, I still think the solution is simple: Make a jump room with a link to the adult Palace with a warning and a link to the next kids safe palace next to it.

The only thing age checks ever did was keep out people that can't count backwards or haven't figured out that you can go into any room on the list anyway no matter what you click on the gate. (oops!)

Like suggested before: proper guiding of tourists is a much more important part of keeping things kids friendly then putting up seperate disclaimers etc.

Perhaps even do something as simple as make a little prop people have to pick to show they are tourists and in what age category they fall. We have wizards, guides, scripting and graphics as tools to solve this. All it takes is a bit of imagination and desire :) Exactly the same ingredients that made us build those palaces in the first place!

Okies, The age script can be used in many different ways, as Maart said, the more intelligent child just has to count backwards, but the way I use it is this:- The person is prompted either for a password, or prop obtained from a wiz, Everyone knows their D.O.B so if it takes longer than 10 - 15 secs for a response, then they are asked politely to leave. A click through is hidden for regular members to use, so they don't have to wait for a wiz to get to them. The Event Button, sign or prop, is placed at the side of the adult content button so that Event Tourists can go straight to the first Event Room. This works for us, as all our adult rooms are hidden, so looking down the room list is not an option. :teacher:

To me age checks where always two things:

1 Very childish and insulting
2 Something to get around just for the fun of it.

Having any sort of wizz run check at the end is going to make a mess of things. I think having two exists in a Palace that has a adult one as the next destination is a much simpler solution: Put the adult gate and the next all age Palace in that room.

You can not mind read the users, trying to trick kids is going to be a major pain. Get a simple jump solution with adult and all ages doors and make tour rooms for all ages. The idea kids will stay out of adult Palaces just because we locked them out during a tour is a bit silly. They can do whatever they want 24/7 why would a tour make a difference? It is not like we put a big "kids safety guaranteed" sticker on this?

Anyway maybe i'm stoopid but I its more important the joining adult Palaces have good guides and wizzes to keep and eye on things, then anything we can script.

The other option is: If we go for a indiana jones type of theme or some adventure thing. People need to get dressed for this right? So why not incorporate an age key into the avatars? Tours / event Palaces run a little script in each room that is part of the tour, it checks if someone has a adult or kids game avatar.

It is part of the game already and you only need to use this one time.

Or just let people sign up for the tour an give adults a secret password lol. Hey i dunno, I do know I think age checks are useless and I don't see the point in putting them in. Besides at the moment it looks like this is all academic anyway is there anyone left that has a Palace with adult content?

anyway, just to open up the discussion, feel free to dissagree :)

And adult people, why don't you join in? Why is nobody else voicing their opinion?

Ah right, like I said a while back: this whole adult content thing is new to me so just voicing my inexperienced opinion :P

So my question is: if we make a tour with a maze, do we "need" a adult content check? People are suppose to play a game right? I have never seen people wonder off from something that is restricted to a tour.

I know there is adult content out there but if none of it is involved in the tour / game what are we trying to do? Make them not look at the room list and pic another room? Maybe I don't get it but i think if the game is existing and interesting enough why would anyone want to look somewhere outside of "our" control.

anyway... just asking :)

have you noticed that the guys hand is the wrong around in the second slap?

Welllllllllllll, Lets not carry this Adult Content on Maart, we are gonna end up starting another thread. It is not important to me, but we may need to be aware of the problem if some palace owners need the jump gate etc. I know btmpalace does not like them, I am not bothered about them one way or another, and some palace owners ask for them. I know from past experience that some under age people have joined a tour, and if they can't get the right answer to proceed, then they tend to wander in whatever palace they are in. We can always cross this bridge if any Palace owners want a jump gate. I can adapt the script if anyone does want it.

Your right, we will see when anyone has any wishes. Right now we better start advertising on lists and with palace hosts to see if anyone wants to join in the fun.
